Creative Member Spotlight: Michelle Halstead
Michelle Halstead graduated with a major in Motion Graphics in 2005 from the Art Institute of Atlanta, where she was recognized
with a Best Portfolio Award. She has since worked freelance for several well respected businesses in Atlanta, including Elevation,
Latin American Pay Television Service and Primal Screen. As a member of CreativeHub since February 2008, she has already earned more
than $10,000 from the site!
Michelle most recently created the winning work for the Yoplait Project. One day in March, while browsing CreativeHub.com, she
came across the Yoplait Project and thought it seemed like exciting work. At the time, she was having trouble finding freelance
work, so she decided to submit 5 storyboards to the Project.
“I had done two illustrated ones and those took several hours.
Then, it was 10:00pm the night before the deadline, and I was sitting and thinking that it was hard to picture an illustration as
live action, so I thought I should get some photography in there. I called my friend and she came over and brought a trampoline, and I
took pictures of her jumping on it in the kitchen. I finished 3 storyboards in about 2 hours.”
Yoplait eventually purchased work
from that last batch Michelle created, and the hours of work Michelle put into it ended up paying off as the highest hourly rate
of her career! And, most importantly, Michelle was able to put the money she earned to good use, paying off some of her debt
and helping her mother.
